HDFCCC Cancer Research Trainee Community Now Launched

The Office of Education and Training (OET) in the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) recently established the HDFCCC Cancer Research Trainee Community. This effort was spearheaded by Dr. Hilde Schjerven, who is the Assistant Director of Education, alongside Jennifer Seuferer and Gia Monachino at the OET office.

The HDFCCC Trainee Community is designed to connect cancer-focused trainees across UCSF's campuses, programs, and departments to make it easier to access career development, networking, and leadership opportunities.

Dr. Schjerven had initiated and organized the community with the OET office, and in May, had held the inaugural HDFCCC Trainee Poster Presentation and Networking Event. This was a great success and included trainees at all levels. In addition, two Laboratory Medicine trainees from Schjerven lab, Eve Mallard and Alexandre Decombe, had achieved an academic science milestone event by presenting their first scientific research poster at the event.
