The mission of the Research Pathology Core is to provide histologic and hematopoietic research support services to investigators from UCSF, affiliated Universities, and other institutions in studying animal models of cancer and other diseases.
The center is a core facility that uses novel metagenomics-based technologies (the ViroChip and ultra high-throughput sequencing on an Illumina Genetic Analyzer II) for viral pathogen detection / discovery in clinical specimens.
In order to assist investigators to navigate the complex research environment of UCSF, the Office of Research has extensive resources available to current faculty members. Below are links to some of those resources.
Research programs in the Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine cover a broad range of topics related to furthering our understanding of disease and improving our diagnostic capabilities. Information about the research activities of our individual faculty members is available in their biographical sketches.
Our large research groups fall into major thematic areas listed in the department pages.
