UCSF Biological Imaging Development Center (BIDC)
The Department of Pathology was the founding Department of the Biological Imaging Development Center (BIDC). The mission of this 'collaboratory' is to develop, house and expand novel light-based imaging modalities. The facility has prototyping equipment and currently houses four multiphoton microscopes (3 custom-built, 1 commercial), 5 confocal microscopes (4 spinning disks) and multiple wide-field microscopes. The collaboratory model encourages UCSF laboratories to attach their microscopes to the facility and provides service and training to pilot users.
