Collection Instructions Collect specimen aseptically into transport medium or RPMI do not use formalinized or fixed tissue.

For samples collected after 3 pm on Friday, on weekends or holidays contact the Cytogenetics laboratory staff at 415-353-4844 for assistance.

A fully completed Genzyme requisition must accompany the sample together with a completed UCSF routine laboratory requisition.

Note: Blue Cross Medi-Cal and Healthy Family Programs require preauthorization for all Cytogenetic studies. If the patient is covered by this insurance the authorization must accompany the sample and requisitions.
