| Additional information | This test for antibody to Y. enterocolitica and Y. pseudotuberculosis is of uncertain specificity and sensitivity. Agglutinins are tested to a number of the more frequently isolated strains of these uncommon pathogens. Titers typically rise one week after onset of symptoms and peak in the second week of illness. Submit paired sera if possible, one collected within 2 weeks of onset of illness and another 3-6 weeks later. A titer =160 is presumptive evidence of infection; titers of 20-80 may deserve followup testing. Not all infected individuals develop agglutinins. Also see Bacterial Culture. |
