|Collection Instructions||Collect 3 samples over 10 days (no more than one per 48 hours) to improve the chance of a positive result. Includes genus, species and stage of intestinal parasite on requisition.
Containers and instructions are available from Specimen Receiving, outpatient phlebotomy, or Microbiology.
Specimens may be collected by colonic aspiration or proctoscopy. Only SAF-preserved specimens should be submitted.

|Additional information||Examination of proglottid segments can reliably identify the infecting species, whereas the eggs of the beef and pork tapeworms are indistinguishable.
