| Collection Instructions | Submit a pea-sized amount of stool in a cup with a screw-on lid with in 3 hours of collecting the specimen. Alternatively, and for samples that cannot be inoculated by the laboratory within three hours of collection, submit sample in a Cary-Blair collection vial by adding stool to red line and mixing well with included paddle. Vials containing Cary-Blair transport medium can be obtained from the ACC phlebotomy stations at A-122 & A-220A or from the Emergency Department. Specify the organism sought on the requisition. |
