Additional information A Total Protein is performed on the same sample and will be reported and billed separately. This test screens for Light Chains (Bence-Jones protein), the presence of which may indicate the need for immunofixation. The Laboratory Medicine resident will consult the ordering physician.

An interpretation of this test by a laboratory physician will automatically be performed and billed for separately.
