| Additional information | Includes electrophoretic examination only. It is important to include a serum sample to test in parallel with the CSF. This will identify serum oligoclonal bands as the cause of positive CSF bands. If serum collected the same day as the CSF is unavailable a sample collected within 72 hours of the CSF is acceptable. Requests for use of serum sample outside of this 72 hour window require Lab resident or pathologist. Also see IgG Index. Immunoelectrophoresis on CSF is not offered. |
