In House Availability Monday-Friday, day shift
Collection Instructions Call laboratory (x3-1268) prior to submitting specimens for culture so that reagents can be prepared ahead. Deliver the specimens directly to the laboratory within 30 minutes of collection during the hours the test is offered. Prior authorization is required for culture of Brown and Toland patients.

Additional information Lesion biopsies and aspirates can be examined by stain and/or culture of specimens of patients with cutaneous or mucocutaneous leishmaniasis. Aspirates of bone marrow, spleen or enlarged lymph nodes and blood can be examined by stain and/or culture in visceral leishmaniasis (Kala azar). Contact the laboratory (x3-1268) for instructions about specimen collection; a portion of any tissue samples should also be submitted to Pathology.
