Additional information This test is only orderable by the Microbiology staff.

Quantitative penicillin G susceptibility performed on viridans streptococci from normally sterile sites.

Interpretation:

S-Susceptible: The organism is inhibited at concentrations readily achieved in serum (and urine) at usual doses of drug.

I-Intermediate (or indeterminate): Higher doses than usual may be required to achieve an inhibitory serum concentration.

U-Urine susceptible: category employed only for ciprofloxacin, doxycycline and nitrofurantoin with isolates from urine.

R-Resistant: Not inhibited in serum, even at high doses of drug.
