| Additional information | Testing detects antibodies to both HIV-1 & HIV-2. If the antibody test is negative in a patient with possible acute HIV infection, order test HIV-1 RNA Quantitative by bDNA (HIVB). If a request for HIV Antibody is received without a signature attesting that the patient consented to testing a note will accompany the result reminding the ordering provider to document consent in the patient record. |
