Adult male reference ranges were established using donor samples collected from the UCSF Donor Center (excluding autologous donors). Female reference ranges were adopted from the Siemens Centaur reagent insert.
This assay standardization is traceable to the World Health Organization (WHO) 2nd International Standard for human FSH (IS 94/632)..
Samples from younger patients are referred to a reference laboratory employing a more sensitive assay (see entry for FSH, Ultrasensitive)
