UCSF Rejection Criteria Unpreserved stool received > 1 hour after collection. Stool in a preservative other than SAF. More than one sample received within 24 hours.

Turn around times Usually 2-3 days
Additional information An acid-fast smear is part of the routine examination for "O&P". If Cyclospora are sought independent of a routine "O&P" request, an acid-fast smear is performed directly on the specimen. See also Cryptosporidium and Microsporidia.
