Additional information Call Microbiology (x3-1268) for assistance with interpretation. The result may be invalid if rheumatoid factor is present. Serum specimens are tested daily at 10:30 am. CSF specimens are tested daily between 8 am-9 pm. CSF received in Moffitt/Long Microbiology before 9 pm will be sent to China Basin Microbiology for same day testing. CSF received after 9 pm will be tested the following day. Serum specimens are repeated at 7-day intervals and CSF at 2-day intervals, whether previously positive or negative.
