| Normal range | Normal Range: Ratio >0.8 (no deletion of PTEN); Signals >1.6 (no loss of chromosome 10) |
| Stability | Slides are stable indefinitely at room temperature |
| Turn around times | 10-14 days |
| Additional information | PTEN deletion by FISH is designed to detect either a deletion of the PTEN locus or loss of the entire 10th chromosome. This feature is seen in glioblastoma, especially the small cell variant. The clinical interpretation of this test should be evaluated within the context of the patient's medical history, other diagnostic tests, and the histologic and immunohistochemical features of the tumor. The test was validated by UCSF Clinical Laboratories to confirm performance characteristics, in compliance with current guidelines for clinical implementation. |
