Collection Instructions Discard first 2 mL of amniotic fluid then collect 30 mL in 2 15 mL polypropylene tubes with orange screw tops (less if early amniocentesis). If the sample is grossly blood, the results may be inconclusive and a repeat sample will be requested.

Complete and submit a Puget Sound Blood Center Platelet Immunology Lab form and send with the samples. Please coordinate with the Blood Bank resident for approval.

Processing notes Keep samples at room temperature. DO NOT CENTRIFUGE for any reasons. Send all tubes and completed paperwork ASAP to the Cytogenetics Laboratory at China Basin. Notify sendouts at x 3-1349 to expect delivery.

Cytogenetics Laboratory will expand amniocytes to two T 25 flasks and arrange for shipping to PSBC through the send out department at China Basin.

Shipping:
1. Media should be added to the flasks, sealed to avoid leakage and shipped at room temperature. All samples should arrive within 24 hours of addition of media and should reach PSBC before 1 pm on Friday.

2. Lavender top tube should also be shipped at room temperature.
