| Additional information | Serotypes tested for include: 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 (9N), 12 (12F), 14, 19 (19F), 23 (23F), 26 (6B), 51 (7F), 56 (18C), 68 (9V) Note: Serotype designations are American nomenclature, with Danish nomenclature in parenthesis. The MAID procedure measures IgG antibodies recognizing 14 type-specific pneumococcal polysaccharide antigens included in the polyvalent vaccine. Evaluation of response to vaccinatioon is best accomplished by com paring Pre-vaccination levels and levels obtained 4-6 weeks post vaccination. A 2-fold to 4-fold increase in 70% of the pneumococcal serotypes vaccinated for in immunocompetent patients between the ages of 5 and 65 years. Adults over the age of 65 may respond with less than 2-fold increases in antibody levels. |
