| Additional information | The Screening HIV Antibody test is only offered in the following situations: 1. High-risk OB patients in whom a prenatal HIV antibody test was not performed and when delivery is expected within the next 24 hours. 2. Testing of patients after a healthcare worker has had a needlestick or body fluid exposure. Positive results are automatically forwarded to California public health per regulations. However, this does not absolve the ordering provider from any additional reporting if such is required. |
