Complete and submit and Atherotech requisition (including insurance information and patient demographics with sample): Click here for Atherotech requisition Also submit a completed UCSF laboratory requisition requesting "PLAC" or "LPLA" Transport samples as soon as possible to laboratory for processing after collection. Avoid hemolysis. Grossly hemolyzed samples will be rejected. |

| Additional information | Lp-PLA2 is elevated in patients with angiographically proven coronary disease when compared to age matched controls. Studies have shown that there is a two-fold risk of coronary heart disease for subjects in the upper quartile of Lp-PLA2 levels. The elevated risk associated with Lp-PLA2 is independent of other risk factors, such as Cardio CRP and fibrinogen. |
