Avoid hemolysis. Grossly hemolyzed samples will be rejected.

UCSF Rejection Criteria Sample grossly hemolyzed.
Processing notes Centrifuge for 15 minutes at 3400 rpm and then immediately refrigerate sample. DO NOT freeze sample. Transport samples to CB refrigerated.

Additional information Lp-PLA2 is elevated in patients with angiographically proven coronary disease when compared to age matched controls. Studies have shown that there is a two-fold risk of coronary heart disease for subjects in the upper quartile of Lp-PLA2 levels. The elevated risk associated with Lp-PLA2 is independent of other risk factors, such as Cardio CRP and fibrinogen.
