Collection Instructions Identify type of body fluid on requisition. Deliver immediately to lab. Specimen label must contain the date and time the sample was collected and the legible name of the person who collected the sample.

Normal range
Stability Smears should be stained within 12 hours. If staining is to be delayed fix smears in methyl alcohol. If smears are left unfixed for a day or longer, the dried plasma will stain, producing a blue background, thus making a uniform staining difficult.
