The University of California, San Francisco phlebotomy training program was approved by the State of California Department of Health Services, Laboratory Field Services (DHS/LFS) on December 7, 2004 to provide training in advance didactic, basic didactic, advance/basic didactic, Limited Skin Punctures and Practical training in accordance with the new DHS/LFS regulations, which will take effect on April 9, 2006.
The main focus of this training program is to help experienced and new phlebotomy trainees acquire highest quality instruction, uncompromised ethical standards expected of healthcare workers, kindness, sensitivity, patience and understanding toward each patient.
The new phlebotomy trainees will be taught to perform a variety of blood collection techniques on patients with different age group and weight status as well as knowledge of California DHS/LFS and Federal (CLIA) regulations as they pertain to the practice of phlebotomy.
