Training is offered in straight anatomic pathology (AP), straight clinical pathology (CP), and combined AP/CP.
Fellowship Programs
A number of Advanced training fellowships are available on a competitive basis.
Laboratory Medicine Grand Rounds
Laboratory Medicine Grand Rounds are held on the 4th Monday of the month from 4:30pm - 5:30pm, beginning yearly in September.
Clinical Laboratory Scientist Training Program
The one-year Clinical Laboratory Specialist Training Programs in Clinical Chemistry, Cytogenetics, Hematology, Immunohematology, and Microbiology at the UCSF Medical Center combines didactic and practical instruction to prepare students for challenging and exciting careers in the clinical laboratories.
The UCSF Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offer unparalleled clinical and research training opportunities. The educational opportunities include ACGME-accredited residency programs in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, as well as subspecialty fellowships in Dermatopathology, Neuropathology, Cytopathology, Hematopathology, GI Pathology, General Surgical Pathology, Clinical Chemistry, and Transfusion Medicine. The Departments also offer courses for medical technologists and CME courses for physicians. These programs draw on a diverse mix of clinical cases and faculty based at UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center and the San Francisco V.A. Medical Center.
