Surgical Pathology Fellowship
Description: This one- or two-year fellowship program is designed to provide
advanced training in diagnostic pathology in the setting of a university
medical center affiliated hospital. The Department of Pathology examines over
27,000 surgical specimens annually, and has a staff of 13 pathologists and two
clinical scientists. Active morphometric analysis, tissue culture,
immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry laboratories are maintained and ongoing
research in the area of tumor biology, is actively pursued. The fellow will
participate in the surgical pathology activities of the department and
responsibilities will include frozen section diagnoses, final histopathologic
diagnoses, consultations with surgery, medicine and subspecialty service,
clinical-pathologic conferences and teaching of clinical house staff. The
opportunity for a clinically oriented research project is available. Emphasis
is placed on the achievement of confidence, as well as accuracy in diagnostic
surgical pathology.
Requirements: Applicants must have successfully completed at least two years of
anatomic pathologic training and be Board eligible/certified in AP or AP/CP.
Stipends: Commensurate with training and experience.
