Cytopathologist - Northwestern U.

NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY FEINBERG SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

Cytopathologist Or Cytopathologist/Surgical Pathologist

The Department of Pathology, Northwestern University Feinberg School of
Medicine, is searching for an anatomic pathologist with cytopathology
subspecialty expertise. Candidates wishing to focus entirely in cytopathology
and those wishing to split cytopathology with general or subspecialty surgical
pathology responsibilities will be considered.	This is a full-time continuing
non-tenure track position with a start date of January 1, 2010. Rank and
remuneration will be determined by qualification and experience. The Division
of Cytopathology is headed by Dr Ritu Nayar. It accessions approximately 50,000
specimens (37,000 gynecologic and 13,000 non-gynecologic including 4500 fine
needle aspirations) and has active superficial and interventional
radiology/GI/pulmonary fine needle aspiration services. The Surgical Pathology
Division is headed by Dr William Laskin and accessions approximately 42,000
specimens annually. The work is diagnostically challenging and there is good
interaction between the sub-specialty areas, especially cytopathology, surgical
pathology and hematopathology. Anatomic pathology has 5 fellowship positions in
cytopathology/
surgical pathology. Candidates must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology
with subspecialty board certification or eligibility in Cytopathology, and
qualify for an unrestricted medical licensure in Illinois. An interest in
graduate/undergraduate teaching, a demonstrated commitment to academic
scholarship and proficiency in performing and interpreting aspirations is
required. Familiarity with modern diagnostic techniques including molecular
biology and immunocytochemistry is expected. Send curriculum vitae, a letter
