Clinical Pathologist - BayCare Pathology Alliance
BayCare Pathology Alliance, an association of several private practice
pathology groups, providing exclusive anatomic and clinical pathology services
to the BayCare Health System and BayCare Laboratories, is announcing a national
search for a full-time dedicated clinical pathologist.
BayCare Health System is a large 11 hospital system with an approximate
combined capacity of over 2700 beds. The laboratory services are provided by
BayCare Laboratories with the overall volume approaching 7 million billable
tests a year. There is an active outreach program.
The successful candidate will be an individual with excellent communication
skills who desires a dedicated career in Laboratory Medicine; an independent
scientist capable of generating ideas and implementing the processes that will
constantly advance our practice and will raise our profile with the clinical
colleagues. This person will be expected to develop a leadership role as a
chief clinical pathologist/laboratory scientist for the entire Health Care
System. Very close cooperation with laboratory personnel, regional and senior
laboratory administration, local hospital administration and senior management
for the entire Health System will be required.
Immediate responsibilities will include:
Clinical pathology sign-out and consultative service.
Expansion of the laboratory consultative service
Improvement of laboratory and patient care through introduction of new
laboratory methods
Contribution to laboratory cost containment
Test menu optimization
Regular engagement of lab administration and personnel and continuous
interaction with clinicians
Responding to CP related inquiries and consults
Close cooperation with IT and thorough understanding of LIS
The job requirements include MD or MD/PhD degree, Florida medical license and
American Board of Pathology certification in Clinical Pathology. A post
residency fellowship training in one of the subspecialty areas of Clinical
Pathology would be a plus.
The successful candidate will be employed, evaluated, and directly reporting to
the Board of Directors, comprised of pathologists representing the groups in
the Health Care System. Excellent salary and benefits package will be provided.
