Laboratory Medical Director and Chief, Laboratory Medicine
UCLA Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine
The UCLA Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking an
innovative and knowledgeable pathologist to serve as the UCLA Laboratory
Medical Director and Chief of the Division of Laboratory Medicine. The position
has two primary roles: a) oversight over the administrative leadership of UCLA
Clinical Laboratories, including quality, regulatory, educational and research
activities and b) as senior faculty and Chief, guidance and mentorship of the
Clinical Pathology faculty. The successful candidate will engage in creative
activities in translational and/or clinical research and possess an excellent
teaching record; and demonstrate a minimum of five years experience in the
practice of clinical pathology including direct administrative duties in a
high-volume, multi-disciplinary testing facility of a comparable institution.
Experience with laboratory information systems in also desirable. CP Board
certification by ABP is mandatory (AP/CP desirable), and eligibility for
medical licensure in the State of California is required. UCLA Clinical
laboratories perform over 6 million tests per year. The laboratories provide
advanced automated core laboratory testing, electronically integrated
point-of-care testing, and esoteric testing services such as molecular
pathology and cytogenetics to UCLA and non-UCLA healthcare providers. Rank and
