Mayo Clinic is seeking a Transfusion Medicine Fellow for the 2010-2011 and 2011

Mayo Clinic's one-year accredited Transfusion Medicine/Blood Banking
Fellowship offers extensive clinical and laboratory experience. The
Transfusion Medicine Division at Mayo Clinic in Rochester supports liver,
renal, heart, pancreas, lung and bone marrow transplantation, as well as stem
cell collection, high-risk neonatal and obstetrical programs and cardiovascular

The division functions as both a blood collection center and a transfusion
service. Each year more than 30,000 units of blood are collected from 15,000
local donors. More than 140,000 products are administered. Transfusion Medicine

each year.

This training program encompasses the full range of blood center and
transfusion medicine activities, including donor recruitment and donation,
compatibility testing, advanced red cell serology, component production,
progenitor cell and cellular therapy laboratory, therapeutic and donor
apheresis, cell salvage and intraoperative autotransfusion, and
histocompatability laboratory.	Experience in transfusion transmitted disease
testing, coagulation testing, and regional blood banking is also offered. Your
training will consist of a mixture of didactic lectures, wet laboratory work,
