Located at 505 Parnassus Ave, this is the site of the main University Hospital. The 15-story hospital has 600 beds composed of two adjoining buildings, Moffitt and Long Hospitals, and includes our 180 bed UCSF Children’s Hospital.
Pathology and Lab Medicine provide support for both inpatient and outpatient activities at the Mount Zion hospital and clinics, including surgical pathology, cytology, central laboratory and blood banking services.
The San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC) serves as a major tertiary health care referral center for veterans throughout Northern California.
San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center (SFGH), the city and county’s 350-bed acute care hospital is located along Potrero Avenue on a 24-acre campus in the historic mission district, 4 miles east of UCSF Medical Center.
The research, education, and clinical activities of the UCSF Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine are carried out at four major University-affiliated hospitals: Moffitt-Long, Mt. Zion, San Francisco General, and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Given the size and diversity of the population of the San Francisco Bay area, these academic medical centers provide treatment for an extremely wide range of patients. Consequently, our residents are exposed to the full spectrum of patients and disease conditions on a regular basis.
