Research and Clinical Interests

My main area of interest and expertise throughout my service to the medical center has been fine-needle aspiration biopsy cytology. At the present time, we examine ~ 3,000 fine-needle aspiration biopsy specimens/year. We are the largest such service in an academic center on the West Coast and, to date, have performed over 35,000 biopsies. For the last 20 years, our department has been the source of a number of seminal articles on aspiration cytology and our fellowship program is widely sought. The cytopathology faculty has developed into a nationally and internationally renowned group of speakers, for which the department can be justifiably proud.
